Project Aim
- To contribute to the reduction of psychological distress levels and improved wellbeing of children.
- Offer integrated MHPSS service as an effective approach with evidence of wider, sustained impact.
1. TeamUp
TeamUp is composed of interactive, inclusive and culturally sensitive group sessions that include games, sports and body awareness practices for children aged 6-17 years.

TeamUp provides children with the suite of structured movement-based activities designed to strengthen both their resilience and psychosocial wellbeing
TeamUp builds upon children’s existing resources but also strengthens and develops a wide range of capacities on social, physical, mental, cultural and emotional levels to enhance wellbeing hence increasing the resilience of children against adversity.
Since the project started it has been offered in Nyakagando, Ruhoko, Kabazana, Karintuma and Burungamo primary schools and surrounding communities.
ReachNow Tool
This is known as a community case detection tool which aims at increasing help seeking through pro- active case detection. It’s Implemented by trained TeamUp facilitators and selected community members. Children detected with emotional/behavioral symptoms will be referred to other interventions and those with protection issues will be referred through the existing referral pathways.
2. Early Adolescent Skills for Emotions (EASE)
EASE intervention is for young adolescents (12-16 years old) experiencing adversity and impaired by distress with their caregivers. It is for young adolescents whose emotional distress is at a level that is interfering with their functioning. Adolescents are able to identifies difficult feelings, provide them with stress management and problem-solving skills. It’s delivered in groups of 12-15 adolescents by trained project staff. Offered through 7 Sessions for children, 3 for parents
3. BeThere
- Caregivers of the children participating in TeamUp sessions participate in BeThere sessions.
BeThere fortifies parenting capabilities by reducing stress and bolstering mental health among conflict-affected parents and other primary caregivers.
It enhances knowledge and skills related to positive parenting, as well as self-care for the caregivers of children targeted by the project.
It’s delivered in separate sessions for female and male caregivers
4. community Tales+
Is a stigma reduction component amongst facilitators, teachers and leaders consisting of community tales+ reflection and a board game based on interactive stigma reduction strategy. The intervention raises awareness around stigmatization and commitment to make change among service providers. Target participants include TeamUp, EASE, BeThere facilitators, teachers, caregivers and community and religious leaders. 5 participants form a group which is met once a week, the group composes a scenario and a character which supports reflections during the sessions, Participants get certificates after completing all the 5 sessions.
Education, Mental Support, and income generating activities aiming, to improve overall quality of life in the community.
