Achidri David is a passionate community development professional with over seven years of experience empowering youth and vulnerable populations through creative, participatory approaches. At Tumaini, he leads the STEPS initiative in Nakivale, where he spearheads gender-based violence (GBV) awareness and prevention among refugees and host communities. Drawing on his deep love for sports and the performing arts, David designs innovative programs that use football, drama, and music as tools for healing, dialogue, and advocacy. His work fosters safe spaces where young people and the community can express themselves, challenge harmful norms, and build resilience through community-driven action.
David’s work is grounded in a strong foundation of specialized training, including Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP), certification as a Trainer of Trainers in Gender in Humanitarian Action, and expertise in the Social Analysis and Action (SAA) methodology. These skills have enabled him to embed community voices into every stage of program design, facilitate transformative conversations, and build local capacity for sustainable change. His previous roles with Amani Sasa and Refuge and Hope International saw the successful implementation of youth mentorship programs, entrepreneurship training, and advocacy campaigns like the HOME RUN OBSTACLE RACE and the I Go The Mile movement. With a BA in Mass Communication and a suite of professional certifications, David continues to lead with empathy, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to building inclusive, empowered communities.
